Pioneer Peak: Rakdos Control (Pioneer, Magic Online)

We're not going to try to play a third color this week and just play a more tap out style of control this week with a Rakdos Control deck!

Gameplan

The deck is a grindy one-for-one deck that controls the board with a ton of removal so we never fall too far behind. With only being two colors, the mana base will be more consistent and allow for us to play cards like Chandra, Acolyte of Flame early and consistently as we have a ton of double red and double black spells like Bedevil! It also really helps that Chandra, Acolyte of Flame has synergies with a ton of our spells as most of our spells cost three or less.

The majority of spells in our deck are three or less mana as this allows us to get more uses out of them with Goblin Dark-Dwellers! The beautiful play is being able to use the Dark-Dwellers to cast cards like Kolaghan's Command again and then reoccur another Dark-Dweller or potentially getting back a Bonecrusher Giant.  We usually win just by a slow burn from our spells and constantly casting them all over again. We also have a Chandra Tribal Plan B....

Chandra, Acolyte of Flame gives us value and a bunch of little critters to attack with but even better, she helps us ultimate Chandra, Torch of Defiance faster. And of course, at the top of our curve is an uncounterable threat that will help in the matchups against blue mages who are loaded to the brim with permission spells.

Out of the sideboard, we've packed even more solid threats in Glorybringer and Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet which is quite nice as I feel the mainboard can be a little threat light against a removal and counterspell heavy deck.

Conclusion

As of recent, I've been running into a ton of Rekindling Phoenix so it's why I've been packing Vraska's Contempt as the exile and two life is usually very relevant. It also helps that the card removes planeswalkers and helps us deal with potential indestructible threats like an Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger or Adanto Vanguard. Our other alternatives would be to play Lava Coil to deal with recursive threats and because that card pairs with Dark Dwellers and Chandra, Acolyte of Flame quite well but I think the coils will have to come out of the sideboard. Its also worth throwing Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet into the main deck as the lifegain and exile has been needed in almost all of our matches. I'd probably tweak the list a little more like this:
