Pioneer Peak: Dimir Rogues

Hello world! I didn't forget about Pioneer. There are still some sweet decks running around and one of them was done by AlexFiero, who got a 5-0 with his Rogues list. For the most part, this list is AlexFiero's list give or take a few changes.

The deck plays a Dimir tempo playstyle and as you know, I've been having a lot of fun with Thieves' Guild Enforcer, so naturally I would try this card in Pioneer! The card is a cheap threat that mills the opponent everytime we play a rogue so this means we can enable our cards like Drown in the Loch and Into the Story. I was very tempted to throw in Vantress Gargoyle and maybe I should've but in Pioneer, we get a rogue that I really missed casting...

Glint-Sleeve Siphoner or what I would call "energetic Bob" is a pretty sweet card and one that rogues definitely could use. It does it's best Dark Confidant impersonation, which is more than enough for me. The fact that it also has menace helps a lot for getting around blockers. It also just feels great going Thieves' Guild Enforcer into Glint-Sleeve Siphoner because something about milling opponents is fun.

Conclusion

The deck plays so many cheap threats and sweet disruption spells so its definitely a fun playstyle but I can't help but wonder if we could fit a few copies of Aether Hub into the deck just for the additional energy boost. Maybe that messes with the mana base too much but being able to draw off of Glint-Sleeve Siphoner on your following upkeep is nice. I don't know if playing zero board wipes is right for the deck as I think we could afford Extinction Event for the go wide decks as playing a bunch of one for one spells just won't help us get there. Of course, exiling creatures isn't contributing to our Drown in the Loch and graveyard plan but I feel that the deck does struggle with any go wide strategy. Lastly, I think I would try more disruption like Thought Erasure out of the sideboard along with a few more threats. Maybe even Ashiok, Nightmare Muse as a curve topper? Either way, the deck was a lot of fun and I'm definitely excited to keep trying to find more decks in all formats to use Thieves' Guild Enforcer and maybe even Vantress Gargoyle :)

 As always, thanks for watching!
