Modern Mayhem: Goblins!!! (Modern, Magic Online)
That's right! It's time to take our little dark dwellers and bring them into the light!! It's time for some goblin action in modern. Here's a list piloted by MasterNeo7 to a clean 5-0!
Gameplan
Well....we're going to be putting a ton of goblins on the board! Board wipes are cheats! Ways for us to get a ton of goblins on board will be connecting with Warren Instigator. After connecting with that, we let all of our goblin lords like Goblin King and Goblin Chieftain take over. We do play a few copies of Goblin Trashmaster too!
Much like how the Merfolk lords give +1/+1 and islandwalk, our goblin lord gives mountainwalk. We don't have Spreading Seas in this deck but we do have Blood Moon so that can be our Spreading Rocks? It's nice to know that as long as they have a non-basic land, our Goblin King will allow us to attack freely without worrying about blockers. Goblin Chieftain is our other goblin lord effect but he gives haste, which is huge because the threat of Goblin Instigator coming down and immediately attacking is scary. We also have this little friend....
The dream of tapping Krenko, Mob Boss immediately and then spawning a billion goblins that are pumped and can attack right away thanks to haste is a thing of beauty.
Conclusion
The deck has a bit of a rough time against Jund...actually it has a terrible time against Jund and I haven't played against any of the UWx control decks yet but I do feel worried about that matchup as a ton of spot removal and board wipes is definitely not a good time for us. However, it is nice to have Cavern of Souls and know that all my little gobbos are going to resolve. I was also surprised to not see Goblin Grenade in the list. Goblin Grenade would definitely supply us with more reach as there will be board states where you won't be able to swing through due to your Goblin King getting removed. We ended 3-2 but the deck was a blast. The deck is also relatively cheap for a modern deck. If you're looking for something sweet to bring to your next FNM, try this one!
