Historic 101: Jeskai Can't Lose
This episode's deck is a list that I saw going around on Twitter by h0lydiva. Outside of a few main deck cards and the sideboard, this is their decklist! The deck isn't a typical control deck as we do get to play with some spicy cards like Pact of Negation and Glorious End. The Glorious End was something I added because I wanted maximum greed and isn't in the original list.
Gameplan
Our deck is still a control deck at its core with counterspells, and we rely on planeswalkers like Teferi, Hero of Dominaria to win games.
The difference between our deck and the typical control deck is that we rely a little bit more on Gideon of the Trials to get away with some saucy cards.
Gideon makes it so we don't have to deal with the downsides of some of our cards like Pact of Negation and Glorious End. We get the upsides of a free counterspell or ending an opponent's turn without having to worry about losing the game which is super sweet! A card like Glorious End is like a super counterspell that can hit uncounterable stuff while negating an ability like a planeswalker ultimate. For the low price of losing the game? I'm on board!
Conclusion
The deck went 3-2 and definitely had some powerful elements to it. The changes I'd like to make to the deck would be to add some mana sink draw spell like Sphinx's Revelation or Pull from Tomorrow as I felt that we needed some big swingy spell when we were out of cards against the Sultai decks. Otherwise, the deck was fun and I wonder if there's a version of the deck that could be sixty cards as opposed to the eighty.
