Historic 101: Feather Force

Every few months or so, its nice to dust off the good ol' Feather, the Redeemed gameplan as the deck is still able to compete in Pioneer. The difference here is that we've splashed black so lets see if Mardu Feather can hang with Historic's meta

Gameplan

Feather, the Redeemed decks rely on making their threats resilient through protection spells like Fight as One and Gods Willing while also being able to reoccur those spells over and over again with Feather itself. With the addition of black, we'll have access to more disruption and ways to reanimate our fall threats.

With Thoughtseize and other hand dissruption spells, we're able to clear the way for our threats to hit the board. It's also nice that we can cast Thoughtseize again with Dreadhorde Arcanist so we could potentially Thoughtseize twice in one turn to really wreck our opponent's gameplan. There are also games where our threats are destroyed and we're stuck with a bunch of protection spells so it's nice to have a few Sorin, Vengeful Bloodlords in the deck to reanimate our fallen Feather, the Redeemed and friends! By adding black, we also get some sweet sideboard cards in Liliana's Triumph to help us fight Azorius Auras.

Conclusion

The deck could probably use more ways to answer Uro, Titan of Nature's Wrath in the maindeck as that is the goto threat for UGx decks in Historic. The Glass Caskets should just be Baffling End in the event that opponents find a way to remove our Glass Caskets. I also think we would greatly benefit from adding cards like Noxious Grasp into our sideboard as it stops Nissa, Who Shakes the World and Teferi, Hero of Dominaria. With Sultai and Bant being pretty popular, we should definitely be packing or planeswalker answers. Otherwise, I think the deck does get way more answers out of the sideboard by adding black so it's nice but if you're a fan of Feather decks, there is a Jeskai variant that can play cards like Spell Pierce and other counterspells. It's also nice to have Essence Capture as a way to constantly counter creatures and grow your threats if we have Feather out. Of course, thats harder on the mana but who would I be if I weren't a little greedy?

As always, thank you for watching and reading!

Mono blue has so many different ways to play it, and this one is a return to the old annoying Mono U with cheap spells, evasive creatures, and a new creature that is also sort of ramp?
