Historic 101: Big Aspirations
Gameplan
So I was browsing the Platinum to Mythic decklists and I saw one that stuck out. It was giants! I couldn't believe the deck went undefeated. Even if the ladder can be the wild west, Giants still feels absurdly slow so I had to take it to the ladder and see if it could work.
The deck is loaded with clunky threats but when the engine gets going, you can flood the board with some big bodies, which is hard to deal with for some decks. The fastest starts begin with us having a Invasion of the Giants to reduce the cost of our giants and to accrue value. When our big friends are on board, a ton of things synergize.
All of the cards mentioned above give us more value or some absurd mana reduction. If we're able to keep a giant on board for long enough, Calamity Bearer can serve as a closer as most people won't be ready for giants nor will they be ready for double damage giants. We also have some additional reach in Quakebringer pinging our opponents for two damage if we're able to keep a giant alive.
Conclusion
The deck can get there when left alone but I still don't really know what Giant's Amulet does for us other than situational hexproof. The deck was hilarious to pilot but does need some way to get its engine going faster and a little bit more graveyard hate out of the sideboard. If you're looking to channel your big energy, make sure you add a few more graveyard hate spells and sweepers in the event you're paired against elves or graveyard strategies.
