Budget Arena: 2 Mythic, 6 Rare Merfolk (Standard, Magic Arena)

Welcome Back Everyone!! With how we're proceeding with Season 2 of Free-To-Play Fish, we've changed to Budget Arena as we've now purchased gems to put into the account so this way we can continue to make great content. We're still gonna be using the minimal amount of Wildcards as we don't want to put more wildcards in than the average person can after a month's worth of grinding. We also don't count the cards given to us in starter decks towards the WildCard budget count!

This week we've got the return of our favorite little fish friends...Merfolk! Glub Glub Glub! With Best of One being the ranked format right now...that means we can try to steal games with the go wide plan with Merfolk. The best part is how Merfolk has the ability to disrupt people by countering people's sweepers with Spell Pierce, and you can fight spot removal with Dive Down.

Kumena is just a powerhouse that must be answered as you can draw a ton of cards with him or provide ALL of your merfolk with +1/+1 counters. Merfolk Mistbinder is a team pump so we're snapping off four copies of this! If you're playing any kind of tribal deck, you want four "lord" effects. Silvergil Adept is your main way to draw cards in this deck while also adding a body to the board. Lastly, Merfolk Trickster allows us to tap down big threats and swing the tempo in our direction so we can continue our aggressive gameplan.

Conclusion

Merfolk seems like the perfect tribe to play if you're looking to play Best of One on Magic Arena. We can capitalize on opponents stumbling and go wide on a budget! The starter deck require a few upgrades. All you really have to craft are Merfolk Mistbinder and Kumena, Tyrant of Orazca. This is the perfect deck to spend your wildcards on and with a new set on the horizon, this deck looks like it'll only get stronger!
