$20 Malcolm & Breeches Combo! | Stream Highlight

Avast ye landlubbers, today we're sailing the Value Seas with a powerhouse deck that only costs ye a few dubloons: this is a budget Malcolm, Keen-Eyed Navigator & Breeches, Brazen Plunderer Pirate Combo deck!

$ 0.00 $ 0.00 $ 0.00 $ 0.00

Both Malcolm and Breeches reward you for dealing damage to your opponents with Pirates, with Malcolm rewarding you with treasure tokens and Breeches letting you play cards off the top of the opponents' libraries. So the most obvious route to build Malcolm & Breeches would be Pirate Tribal, loading up on Pirate creatures and smacking as many opponents as possible each turn, generating treasures with Malcolm and using that extra mana to plunder your opponents' libraries with Breeches. Simple and effective.

But the interesting thing about Malcolm & Breeches is that their powerful abilities trigger off any damage dealt by Pirates, not just restricted to combat damage. So for example, damage dealt by the Pirate creature Lightning-Rig Crew triggers Malcolm & Breeches, so if it damages three opponents then that's three Malcolm & Breeches triggers. Or even better, Glint-Horn Buccaneer straight-up just murders all your opponents when paired with Malcolm, as you can activate the Buccaneer to deal 1 damage to each opponent, creating Treasure tokens with Malcolm, then use the mana from those tokens to repeatedly activate Buccaneer until all your opponents are dead. These instant-win combos are incredibly strong, so we're building an entire deck around them!

$ 0.00 $ 0.00 $ 0.00 $ 0.00

Now there aren't any other Pirates as busted as Glint-Horn Buccaneer in this deck, so for the sake of consistency we're adding a few non-Pirates that also can win us the game with Malcolm if we turn them into Pirates first. We can use cards like Imagecrafter to temporarily turn combo finishers like Reckless Fireweaver or Havoc Jester into Pirates. When paired with Malcolm, a Pirate Fireweaver deals damage to each opponent whenever a treasure token enters the battlefield, dealing infinite damage and making infinite treasure tokens, and a Pirate Jester deals damage whenever we sacrifice a treasure token for mana, also dealing infinite damage and making infinite tokens.

$ 0.00 $ 0.00 $ 0.00 $ 0.00

And the rest of the deck is just a Control deck full of interaction, ramp, and card draw. We keep a low profile, stop our opponents from winning the game with all of our interaction, draw lots of cards to find our combo pieces, and then once we're ready we go for the combo kill. It's shocking how effective this deck can be for just $20!

Want to see the deck in action? I streamed this exact deck recently and you can see how it went by clicking the link that's showing up on screen now or in the video description below! I stream Commander every Wednesday and Friday at 6PM EST so come catch these games live. I'd love to see you there!
