When a Magic: the Gathering card becomes too strong it can be banned, making it illegal to play in a format, but usually it takes many months or even years for a card to end up banned. When a card is banned shortly after it releases it's a pretty clear sign that Wizards made a huge mistake and the card is truly broken.
